SVA MASTERS IN BRANDING PROJECT
MARKET OPPORTUNITY
The Beauty Salon and Cosmetic industry is a projected to continue growing 3.3% into 2017 and is a $49.3 billion dollar industry. Revenue within the cosmetic industry in the United States has increased by 3.8% over the last year (2013 to 2014 and is projected to increase another 3% in 2015.
challenge

INSIGHTS
Getting your makeup done professionally can be unsatisfying and unglamorous. Makeup counters offering free makeovers often push products, leaving women feeling obligated to make a purchase. Others have described leaving a makeover "not feeling like me" since the products being used are new or in season and don't always compliment the customers natural features or skin tone. The environment in which getting your makeup done is also often unglamorous, with makeup being applied in busy stores while the makeup artists attention is often distracted by other customers shopping. My research also identified how culture today influences the way women look and feel about themselves.
